Darrin Rogers, MSW, LCADC, CCS, Clinical Director
Darrin Rogers is the Clinical Director for Sunrise Detox Center in Stirling, NJ. Darrin is a native of New Jersey, growing up in nearby Paterson and has been in the addiction field for 18 years. He began his work with Sunrise
Detox in 2010 as a part time counselor. After joining the company on a full time basis in 2011, he became the Clinical Director in 2012, where he enjoys teaching others how to become social workers and counselors as well
as providing the best possible detox care.
Darrin attended Eastside High School where he was a band section leader and played the Trombone. His high school is also where the movie “Lean on Me” was filmed. After high school, Darrin completed his undergraduate work
at Kean University in Union, receiving his bachelor’s degree in Social Work. He went on to earn his Master’s degree in Social Work from Fordham University. When not at work, Darrin is involved with his local church, jogs
three to four times a week, and takes Tae Kwon Do.
Dr. Francis Rienzo, MD, Medical Director
Dr. Rienzo has been in private practice in internal medicine more than 20 years and has been involved in the field of addiction medicine since the early 90's. He is the co-founder and Medical Director of Jersey Shore Daytox,
Medical Director of Discovery Institute for Addictive Disorders, and Clinic physician for Jersey Shore Addiction Services. He is also employed by NJ Sports and Exposition authority as an in-house physician.
Dr. Rienzo is an active treatment advocate for Reckitt Benckiser pharmaceuticals and is often called upon to train physicians in the proper treatment with Suboxone. He is a diplomate of American Board of Internal Medicine and
a diplomate of the American Board of Addiction Medicine. And, is certified by the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM).
Lauren Doherty, RN, Director of Nursing
Director of Nursing, Lauren Doherty, RN, is not only a Registered Nurse but is also Certified in Crisis Intervention and BLS (Basic Life Support) certified. Before joining the Sunrise Detox team nearly ten years ago, she worked
in the Pediatric intensive care unit at Robert Wood Johnson and in a specialists office providing care to asthma patients.
Psychiatric nursing was always Lauren’s primary interest. She chose to work in addiction treatment to provide care for this type of population without judgment. Lauren feels fortunate to meet so many wonderful people and help
them get started on the first step in their journey to sobriety.
Matthew Lee, CADC, Counselor
Counselor, Matthew Lee, CADC, began his career in substance use treatment nine years ago when he sat in on drug and alcohol assessments as part of his college internship.
In 2006, after a counselor had a significant impact on Matthew is when he began his journey to sobriety. He strives to give back in the same way as that counselor gave back to him and changed his outlook on life. Matthew teaches
patients about the severity of addiction and mental health and how to cope with life on life's terms.
Brenda Benson, CADC, Counselor
Born and raised in Newark, NJ, Counselor, Brenda Benson, CADC began her career in substance use treatment nearly seven years ago. She wanted to work in addiction treatment after seeing some friends struggle with sobriety.
Brenda strongly believes in Motivational Interviewing as a modality of treatment because it gets them to start looking at their situation from a different, more positive perspective. The thing that keeps her going is seeing
the transformations in patients going from sleeping all day to participating in groups, a better attitude and really, making an effort to turn their life around.
Brittany Daniels, LSW, Counselor
Counselor, Brittany Daniels, LSW, received her Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from Wilkes University and her Master's Degree in Social Work from Kean University. She previously worked with children who suffer from mental health
and behavioral issues at Dungarvin’s Children’s Behavioral Health.
Brittany goes the extra mile to get as much background information on as possible to develop a successful treatment plan. In developing the proper treatment plan, each patient has a better chance of maintaining their sobriety
and finding their real happiness.
Matthew McNally, MA, LAC, Counselor
Counselor, Matthew McNally, MA, LAC, earned his Master of Arts in Counseling from Farleigh Dickinson University and is a member of the American Counseling Association. Previously a counselor for convicted felons, Matthew chose
to work in substance use treatment to help people who are fighting to get clean and sober.
As a counselor, Matthew does not only day to day counseling but also family outreach, and continuum of care plans, so every patient continues down the right path. Although he is a believer in CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy)
for developing coping skills for cravings and better decision making, he knows that treatment should be centered on what will work best for the individual.
Naty Casimiro-Hess, Administrative Assistant
Administrative Assistant, Naty Casimiro-Hess, is the first face people see when they are checking into Sunrise Detox. She aims to make new patients feel comfortable and welcome from the first minute they walk into our door.
Her favorite part of her job is seeing former patients come back as guest speakers to give hope that current patients can have success, just like them.
Joseph Ponce, BA, Admissions
Admissions Counselor, Joseph Ponce, BA, earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Kean University. After seeing some of his friends struggle on their paths to sobriety, he got more educated and began working with Sunrise
Detox so he could help in as many ways as possible. Whether he is making a big or small impact on someone, it is rewarding being able to help those who want to improve their quality of life.
